Since opening in 1962, Rockport Marine has grown in reputation to become a premier builder of wooden boats.
Our projects are varied, and sometimes a modern wood composite racing boat will be built in a bay next to a 16th century carvel-planked square-rigger. We like this work, and the varied challenges it presents.

R37
The R37 is an ideal dayboat and yet is remarkably well-equipped for simple cruising. With roots in the lobster yachts from the 1950s by Newbert and Wallace, the type and scale were selected to balance sea kindliness, moderate speed, maneuverability, and space on deck. Mar Amore
A shallow ballast keel slotted for a centerboard not only means that the Little Wolf-38 floats in only three and a half feet of water but also that you can bring her into a beach and, in waist-deep water, walk all around . . .
Mist
Launched in the fall of 2021 and built in collaboration with Tripp Design NA, MCM Management, Tack Studios and experienced owners. MIST was built with wood composite construction, an elegantly simple interior and a particularly well thought out rigging package. Penn Desk
Occasionally our boatbuilders will take on special projects. This reception desk for a new teaching hospital was a particularly rewarding challenge. Planked in white oak on white oak frames and finished with satin varnish the sculpture exudes comfort and security.
Eloise
Eloise, hull #1 of our Islander design, blends the lineage of the Bahamian runabouts made famous by the Albury family and downeast lobster boats of Maine. While the design will feel right at home along our rocky coast, Eloise has been delivered to the Bahamas where her open transom will provide easy access in and out of the water. The design brief for Eloise was for a boat capable of occasional inter-island passages,...Read More
