The Travel Lift Operator at Rockport Marine plays an integral role amongst the yard crew who operate as a team with a morning meeting, daily schedule, and weekly goals.
From April to November this is an outside position. Between November and April yard crew work in other areas such as painting and varnish, maintenance, carpentry, mechanical work, and rigging.
Good communication, willingness to help others, careful attention to safety, and a high regard for the yachts in our care are essential.
The work is fast paced, and the environment is positive.
Prior travel lift experience is essential. Additional heavy equipment experience such as forklifts, tractors, and cranes is preferred. There are opportunities for growth within the company.
Job duties include but are not limited to:
- Conduct travel lift and crane operations for the haul, launch, and step of our storage fleet
- Rigging sailboats
- Assist with setting boats on stands
- Operate work boat and forklift
- Assists in the moving of equipment and materials
- Assists with general boat repair, painting, maintenance, and other yard work
- Inspect, maintain, and repair equipment to ensure safe operation
- Assist with general building, grounds, and property maintenance
- Prepare docks and floats for spring launch, including repairs, scraping and painting
- Must be willing and able to move blocking and jackstands
- Safety-focused, detail oriented, and mechanical aptitude are a plus
- Serves as an advocate for each boat and owner. Proactive search for potential problems.
Must be able to be active all day, must be able to climb ladders and lift 50lbs, must have own reliable transportation.
Work is M-F 7am-3:30pm.
