Rockport Marine, located on the water in Rockport Harbor, has gained a worldwide reputation as a premier yard for the construction and restoration of wooden boats.

The Travel Lift Operator at Rockport Marine plays an integral role amongst the yard crew who operate as a team with a morning meeting, daily schedule, and weekly goals.

From April to November this is an outside position.  Between November and April yard crew work in other areas such as painting and varnish, maintenance, carpentry, mechanical work, and rigging.

Good communication, willingness to help others, careful attention to safety, and a high regard for the yachts in our care are essential.

The work is fast paced, and the environment is positive.

Prior travel lift experience is essential. Additional heavy equipment experience such as forklifts, tractors, and cranes is preferred. There are opportunities for growth within the company.

Job duties include but are not limited to:

  • Conduct travel lift and crane operations for the haul, launch, and step of our storage fleet
  • Rigging sailboats
  • Assist with setting boats on stands
  • Operate work boat and forklift
  • Assists in the moving of equipment and materials
  • Assists with general boat repair, painting, maintenance, and other yard work
  • Inspect, maintain, and repair equipment to ensure safe operation
  • Assist with general building, grounds, and property maintenance
  • Prepare docks and floats for spring launch, including repairs, scraping and painting
  • Must be willing and able to move blocking and jackstands
  • Safety-focused, detail oriented, and mechanical aptitude are a plus
  • Serves as an advocate for each boat and owner.  Proactive search for potential problems.

Must be able to be active all day, must be able to climb ladders and lift 50lbs, must have own reliable transportation.

Work is M-F 7am-3:30pm.

Rockport Marine is hiring a full-time rigger to join our talented team. The job offers a satisfying opportunity to work on high end yachts, both classic and modern. Our ideal candidate would have the following:

  • Boat handling experience (professional experience preferred but not required)
  • Knowledge of modern and traditional rigging
  • Knowledge of general boat systems
  • An ability to work in the elements (sun, rain, snow, wind)
  • Have the ability to work as part of a team or independently.
  • Familiarity with heavy equipment, specifically cranes and tractors
  • An appreciation of quality and detail
  • Knowledge of boat construction
  • Ability to troubleshoot basic marine systems and mechanical equipment

Rockport Marine is hiring a full-time yacht painter/varnisher to join our talented team. The job offers a satisfying opportunity to work on high end classic wooden yachts.

Applicants should have a minimum of three years of experience painting and varnishing yachts. Brush skills are a must. Spray finish skills are a bonus. Good communication skills, teamwork and an excellent attitude are essential. Team members are expected to strive for quality work in a safe, efficient manner. We are willing to train some skill sets and offer plenty of opportunities for growth. Pay is commensurate with experience.

Rockport Marine is hiring an experienced marine electrician to help maintain our high-end storage fleet of wooden yachts as well as help with new builds and refits. The position offers opportunities for repair, replacement, new work, and upgrades.

Applicants should be looking for a long-term, full-time position. Good communication skills, teamwork and an excellent attitude are essential. Our team is expected to produce clean organized work in an efficient manner. We are willing to train some skill sets but a successful applicant will need to demonstrate a solid foundation. Pay is commensurate with experience.

Rockport Marine is hiring a boat carpenter to help maintain our high-end storage fleet of wooden yachts as well as help with new builds and refits. The position offers a wide range of work including; traditional plank on frame construction and repair, interior joinery, to modern wood composite construction techniques.

Applicants should be looking for a long-term, full-time position. Good communication skills, teamwork and an excellent attitude are essential. Our carpenters are expected to have wide range of boat specific carpentry skills. They must consistently produce exquisite work in a timely efficient manner. We are willing to train some skill sets but a successful applicant will need to demonstrate a solid foundation. Pay is commensurate with experience.
