Classic Yacht Restorations

 

The design office is located directly above the boatyard overlooking the water on Rockport Harbor. We offer practical, beautiful designs for the customer who wants a boat created to exactly fit his desires and needs. We have worked with many clients on restorations of their classic yachts, researching details and history, as well as retooling aspects of the construction or layout to reflect modern advancements or taste. Rockport Marine has over forty years of custom construction and restoration projects to its credit, giving us the practical knowledge needed to carry a drawing from table to shop floor.

Rockport Marine employs a full time design team. While often employed in creating our own designs and facilitating restorations, our team is also commonly used to support outside designers to whose plans we are building. Design support can vary from basic communications to involved secondary design work such as modeling, rendering, joinery layout, weight analysis, rig planning, and structural considerations. Our team is experienced in designing a cold molded or traditional wood hull for vessel plans originally conceived with other hull materials in mind.

Our design team works with our fabrication shop, machine shop, systems installers, and joiners to create detailed construction drawings for our builders. These drawings can be a desirable step for an outside designer and client.
