37′ 1955 S.S. Crocker Schooner

$85,000

Bald Eagle is a 37’ S.S. Crocker designed schooner built by Bud McIntosh in 1955.  She’s a very typical workboat-inspired Crocker design, handsome, well proportioned and seaworthy. Bald Eagle has been through two significant recent refits (’02 and ’17 – detailed below) at Harold Burnham’s yard in Essex, MA and was recently surveyed and found to be in excellent condition.

On deck it’s all about simplicity, ease of maintenance and sail handling.  Bald Eagle has a large, comfortable cockpit, a very manageable bald-headed schooner rig (with a self-tacking club staysail and roller furling Jib), a dynel over plywood deck, and a very attractive, painted, work-boat finish scheme.

Down below is a well laid out, galley-aft, white raised panel and varnished mahogany interior.  There is a quarter berth to port and a simple galley with a sink, ice box and alcohol stove to stbd.  Moving forward there are two settee berths (one that converts to a double), a head forward to port and woodstove and storage to starboard.  There is a single berth and chain locker in the bow.

Beautiful, comfortable, seaworthy, well maintained and by all accounts a real pleasure to sail, Bald Eagle  has all the qualities one could hope for in a small schooner.  She is currently in Gloucester, MA and plans to cruise the Maine coast in late July and August.
