35′ Carroll Lowell / Peter Kass Lobsterboat

$295,000

Equinox is a Carroll Lowell designed, 35’ plank-on-frame lobster yacht built by Peter Kass in 1990.  Peter Kass, owner of John’s Bay Boat Company in South Bristol, has earned a reputation as the premier builder of traditionally constructed commercial fishing and recreational lobster boats on the Maine Coast.

It’s a reputation that is very well deserved.  Peter Kass boats are exceptionally well constructed, fast, stable, seaworthy and stunning to look at.  Whether built for hauling traps or cruising, their design, scantlings and stature is pure workboat but the fit and finish all yacht quality.

Equinox is a comfortable, capable, well thought-out cruising lobster boat. Her interior layout is as follows:  At the base of the companionway, a settee berth to starboard and galley to port (with 12v fridge and two burner alcohol stove).  Forward of the galley, a head, V-berth and chain locker.  Her fully enclosed pilot house has a helm station to starboard, dinette to port.  Aft of the pilot house, a spacious working deck with a second helm-station.

Equinox’s construction is a nice blend of the traditional, with modern amenities.  Her hull is traditionally built; bronze fastened with cedar planking and white oak floors, frames and backbone timbers.  The cockpit sole is oiled teak.  The side-decks and cabin house tops are plywood sheathed with fiberglass and painted.   Powered by a 320 hp Caterpillar 3208.

Equinox has the ride, aesthetics and feel of a classic lobster yacht and the interior space, systems and conveniences you expect from a modern yacht.  She’s a near perfect boat for cruising and daytrips on the coast of Maine and is currently moored in the Damariscotta river, ready for showings.
