Grace is 19’ LOA Paul Gartside cutter built by the Great Lakes School of Boatbuilding in 2011.  She is based on the Falmouth Working Boat, a 19th century oyster fishing boat turned racing class from Gartside’s childhood home of Falmouth, Cornwall. The sweeping sheer, high-peaked gaff cutter rig, offset bowsprit, and plumb bow and transom are all there and though she’s scaled down, the shape and proportions are spot-on.

Grace is cedar planked with white oak frames, floors, and backbone timbers.  She has dynel over plywood deck, sitka spruce spars and a roomy, beautifully finished cockpit with room for 4 or 5 adults.  Both headsails are on furlers and all sail handling is easily managed from the cockpit.  Propulsion comes from a 5kw inboard electric motor with solar and plug-in charging that was installed here at Rockport Marine in 2017.

Grace has handsome lines and exciting sailing characteristics of her workboat forebearers in a smaller, more manageable package.  She’s a perfect classic family daysailer and, with the added convenience of roller furling and electric propulsion, is easily single-handed and self-sufficient on a mooring.  Grace is offered for sale in exceptional condition and is currently moored in Rockport, ME.
