22′ 1975 Albury Runabout
$154,500
ISLA is a 22’ outboard runabout built by the Albury Brothers Boatbuilding Company in 1975. The Albury Brothers, Willard and Benny, took over their family’s boat building business on the Bahamian Island Man O’ War Key in 1960 and produced around 250 outboard powered wooden runabouts before changing production to fiberglass in 1985.
The Albury runabouts were designed for fishing and inter-island transport in the notoriously choppy and exposed water of Abaco Sound. They were built by eye and the design was continuously refined throughout its life. The resulting boats are stout, practical, sea-kindly, efficient, exceptionally well proportioned and beautiful in their simplicity.
ISLA is one of only three 22 ft. hulls (Hull# 22-3, most were 19-20’) and is in the midst of a keel up restoration at Six River Marine in Yarmouth, ME and has just been re-powered with a 2021 Yamaha 200 outboard.
For more information on the Albury runabouts see Wooden Boat # 135 March/April 1997
