This handsome and proven topsail schooner was designed by John Alden and built in 1939 at Goudy & Stevens in East Boothbay, Maine. Dirigo II is a 72′ traditional gaff rigged schooner designed for circumnavigation with the ultimate goal of sailing ease in any ocean and any weather. Throughout her life, she has participated in sailing expeditions, races and pleasure cruises around the world, and completed two circumnavigations. The boat recently underwent a complete restoration and is now kept with loving care by her present owner. Today she sails for charter in the San Juan Islands and throughout the Salish Sea.
In addition to captain and crew quarters, she has two private staterooms with “over and under” berths and two pullman berths in the main salon. With her well appointed galley, hot water shower, spacious cockpit, wide decks and high bulwarks, she is an elegant traditional sailor with exceptional comfort throughout.
