Lara is a stunning vessel with a knowledgeable owner who has spared no expense in maintaining the boat. Built in 1957, she is hull number 48. Today, this Concordia is in excellent condition. Summary of 2014-2015 Refit:
Cracked floor timbers were replaced with new timbers featuring laminated ears, making for a floor and hull stronger than the original construction. Problem frames were identified and resolved, fresh keel and dead wood bolts installed. The hull was inspected and any planks requiring attention were replaced and fastened with new fasteners. A new rudder was built and installed. The boat was rewired, old plumbing removed and through hulls inspected and replaced if necessary.
Systems: 120-volt AC shore power installed and 110-volt system updated. Fresh water plumbing replaced. Pressure cold water added. All new electronics (autopilot, digital color radar and sonar, and depth and speed indicators) tied together with an MFD at a custom-built control module at the steering station.
Propulsion: New three-blade Featherstream feathering prop and shaft razor, new shaft and Cutless bearing.
Ground Tackle: New Lewmar electric windlass along with 44-pound Delta anchor and 130 feet of rode.
Rigging/Sails: All standing rigging replaced. New main halyard. New rope tails added to wire halyards on mizzen. Sails inspected and repairs accordingly.
Interior Modifications: Forward cabin has double bunk to port and wood settee starboard. Concordia berths removed and replaced with settee berths with removable backs. Galley counter and engine box rebuilt. Ice box rebuilt and 12-volt refrigeration added for fridge and freezer. 2 burner alcohol stove added, stainless steel sink and fixtures added. New toilet, sink and vanity added to head. All lighting changed to LED. AM-FM stereo with CD player and four speakers added along with 28′ television and BlueRay DVD player.
2016 Updates: New Yanmar 3YM30AE diesel engine installed in August and a 3rd house battery (for a total of four) added
