David Jones Yacht Brokerage at Rockport Marine connects two world renowned companies in a strategic relationship designed to better serve the yard’s customers while encouraging wooden boat stewardship.

Individuals interested in listing with the brokerage are required to submit a recent marine survey (boats over 19′), photos of the boat taken within the past 6 months that are at least 640 x 480 pixels and a summary of known upcoming maintenance.

Honest presentation of a boat facilitates timely, informed sales. Prospective buyers are more likely to travel for a viewing if they have reviewed a comprehensive survey and are familiar with a boats condition. This attention to detail makes us unique in the yacht sales industry. We’re happy to refer owners and buyers to knowledgeable surveyors for pre-listing or pre-purchase assessments.

David Jones Yacht Brokerage was founded nearly 20 years ago. In June of 2016 Rockport Marine purchased the company and asked its founder, David Jones, to stay on as a broker. David works closely with Evelyn Smith, a broker who is at once learning from David and running the daily operations of the brokerage. John Snyder and Michael Lynch serve as  affiliated brokers.



Evelyn lives in Portland, Maine and is in the Rockport Marine office three days a week. Otherwise, she can be found on the road showing boats or in her home office in downtown Portland. She grew up sailing along the coast of Maine and has worked on private yachts throughout the Caribbean.



David lives in Camden, Maine and can often be found sailing in the local Tuesday night races on his boat Elvis Tuna. He is an accomplished sailor and racer who built a business out of a personal passion. David believes in connecting people with the ocean – yacht sales fulfills this mission while promoting the care of beautiful wooden boats.
